One Savior, a bunch of Pirates and a guy going to war
That was our day:)
We got up and walked the dog before church. We went to late service, which made things super fun because we were going to have Lori over for breakfast. Sarah had blueberries, so we were going to have pancakes with bacon. I am sure everything tasted good as we wolfed it down, trying to make it to a 1:00 showing of Pirates of the Carribean – At World’s End (Finally at the cheap theaters).
The movie was pretty fantastically executed and had some stunning imagery. But, I didn’t find it nearly as entertaining as either of the first two. Maybe that is why it earned so much less than the less one.
We made a quick stop afterwards at Best Buy for some laptop cleaner. We saw Jeff there, he was really out of it, very weird. We almost ran him over trying to get his attention and then even when we drove up to block in his truck 🙂 he just seemed very out of character.
We stopped in just briefly at home to see that the Tigers won, and then headed over to McCartney’s for a little going away party for Aaron who is going to boot camp. We were only there for about an hour, but in that short time I volunteered to do Habitat for Humanity in two weeks.
When we got home the rest of the night was work for the both of us. Her parents called and talked for a little bit. I did some more blog transfers, and she did school work prep. I also took the time to try to figure out how the R-Type was put together so I could put a different monitor in it to try to get it sold. I got a better understanding, but no answers really.
Lifting, Working and Vegging
The morning came fast after such a crazy night. I told my body the night previous that we would skip lifting. My body in turn said, “Fine, here’s a headache.” Then I decided that I was going to go in and try to keep excommunicating the fat, so I had to shake off the cloudy cabeza and get focused.
Soon after I got back I was supposed to be selling the never ending Dig Dug project. A bidder had won it on ebay, but in true Dig Dug, or Jeff fashion maybe, I turn on the game and it goes all digital sqaurey on me and I see some faint hints of a Rom error or two flash on the screen. So the guy arrives, nice guy, and I have to explain to him why I suck and why he can’t buy his machine today. He seemed to understand, and I tried to be as nice as possible, sending some other related information his way via email later. Plus, hey, I got to meet one other under the radar collector here in the Indy area.
I got showered and headed into work for a couple of hours on a deadline. Sarah met up with Kate down at Southport road to do some shopping and just hang out. We both got home after 2 pm. I popped in Scubs, Season 1 Disc 2 and we both pretty much watched that start to finish.
There was some talk today of going to the pool with Lori and Kenny, but they ended up having other things to do. So, I worked on transferring another section of blog posts, and Sarah did some reading.
About dinner time we got something to eat and I put in Disturbia, which Doug from work lent me. That was pretty good, I was surprised that I liked it as much as I did. My expectations were pretty low though.
I had a thank you letter to write, and soon after it was time for bed. I watched some SNL in bed, and Sarah stayed up I guess until 2 am, she was really engaged in the book she was reading and had to finish it. Good time to do it. When the big lumbering husband is zonked and the puppy is too.
Rangers blast 30 runs, set American League Record
Wow. I saw the score before I went to bed, but this is ridiculous. A 30-3 route of the Baltimore Orioles, and all of the big run producers by little known names that probably will never have a night quite like this one.
No one in the majors has scored that many runs in over 110 years, and seriously, who even counts stats from that long ago? Cubs scored 36 runs against a team in Louisville many years ago. Louisville, yeah, not been a team in a long time.
They also set a record for runs in a double header, 39 total beating a Tigers record from 1937.
Wow, how embarrassing for the Orioles. If Eric Bedard doesn’t pitch, I guess the runs come in sets of 10.
Colts vs. Bears Preseason Game
Monday night my boss gave us his pre-season game tickets to go and see the Colts vs. Bears preseason game downtown.
We went out to Acapulco Joe’s for dinner, Sarah had never been and really enjoyed it, and then we walked to the game from there. It was a rainy night, so it was a good night to be inside watching a game.
We had the usual spot, eight rows back. I wore my big crazy yellow and blue wig, it was a lot of fun. They played mostly second and third string guys for a good portion of the game, so it got a little slow later on. We left with 4 minutes to go, and they ended up losing 27-24, but it was cool to be able to go to a game with her in any respect.
Everyone got together and got installed and baptized on the same day
In the morning Nokes got us up at the normal hour, too early… which worked out great because it meant we could go to Calvary and support Dave as he got installed. Sarah “took” me out afterwards for donuts, we split a bag of donut holes.
I worked when I got back, and then Sarah went to our church for service. They were doing all of the installations as well as little Michael’s baptism, so it was going to be a healthy service.
Dave called me around 11:15, and I headed over to meet him at the gym for our last day this week.
After I got home I made arrangements with a guy who was interested in buying the Tempest cabinet. He was going to make a really cool Mame machine out of it, and ended up taking it and I felt like that was meant to be. If you want to read more about my thoughts on selling the Tempest right after I got it, check out my post in the arcade section.
For the rest of the day, Sarah read her book and I worked diligently on transferring over blog posts into WordPress.
We took a short break to take Nokes down to Petsmart for some food and fun for him, all the smells, so exciting.
I also did some work stripping off paint from the Xevious cabinet I got this weekend.
Later on, we talked to my parents for awhile, and then her mom later on.
I wish weekend sleeping-in really was more over-rated
The dog is getting us prepped for having children. Granted, it’s not the middle of the night and not too early, but Nokes was up and needing to go out about 5:30 this morning. Fortunately he went back to sleep and allowed us to do so until the wicked crazy late hour of 7:00 am. Didn’t matter, we were getting up anyway.
It was cool outside, so Sarah went out and chopped down all of our fun little trees growing out of the base of the fence. I went for a run.
I am going over to Rater’s house this morning to borrow their vehicle and trailer and going up to Fort Wayne with it. I am trading one arcade machine that should only need a new motherboard for four almost empty cabinets.
When I got to their house, I was a little early, and I needed it. I have borrowed their vehicle two other times over the last year, and I don’t think I have ever put in the hitch. Well, it is rusted out on the vehicle, and it doesn’t help apparently when you put it in with the wrong ball up. But, from after some humorous antics from an onlookers standpoint I am sure, we got things squared away and I was ready to roll.
I came home and got my Frenzy game and Sarah was great to help me take it apart some and rope it down. The original plan was to get up early enough to get on the road and get to Fort Wayne by 11:00. Well, it was about 10:10 and I knew that wouldn’t happen. I did make decent time I guess, with a trailer on back of me, and arrived just after noon.
First Tim and I switched cabinets in the trailer, and then we went inside Pizza Hut and had some lunch. I brought my laptop with me, with my scanner, and was planning on scanner in some arcade pieces that Tim had brought at my request. Another collector had asked me to get some images for him, and I thought it would be a nice favor.
We had some lunch, and it was taking me a really long time. I would have had to make Tim wait another hour plus after we were done, so I decided to just take as many flat photos as I could of the bezels and marquees that he had.
The trip back home wasn’t nearly as gripping as the trip last year from Nashville. I think it is a good idea to just leave the tarp out, all it can give you is textbook heart failure. I did hit a brief sprinkle, but nothing to be worried about for the wood.
I got home just after 4, and got to see a piece of the Tigers game. That was the original idea, get home to see the Tigers play the Yankees on Fox, but it barely happened.
Both Sarah and I returned the trailer, and then we stopped at Jeff and Sarah’s to let out their dog.
When we got home, we had some dinner and chilled for the rest of the night. Sarah read her book, I think she is on Prince Caspian. She had a busy day too, before I forget. She cleaned the whole house, gave Nokes a bath, and went up to school for alter guild setup.
I finished off the night working on the laptop, adding images to Rotheblog of what I got today, emailing out the scans I took, posting one of the cabinets for sale, and responding to emails etc. etc. We got to bed around 11:30.
Scrubs has a lot more character development then I thought
On the way home from work we played delivery people. We dropped off a bunch of Pampered chef stuff to friends who ordered it.
When I got home, I had a call I had to make to a contact that took about an hour.
Then we had some dinner, and I popped in a DVD. The first disc of the first season of Scrubs came in the mail tonight from Blockbuster and I wanted to try to watch all of it. It is a lot of episodes to watch in one night, eight total, but tomorrow I wanted to return it and get another movie free for a movie night with friends.
So, I watched the whole thing. I laughed quite a bit. But the more important thing, the show does a lot of character development I think. The humor is quite obvious, physical, and sometimes reaches out and hits you over the head. But for me, watching random episodes some times didn’t do anything for me. But when I watched these first eight, things came together for me. The episodes I had seen made more sense why the characters are the way they are, and how the humor has built on itself for so long.
Unfortunately, that is all I did tonight. Sarah did a ton of work on the laptop and on fast direct, the online system for school. She is trying a new approach to work this year, and I hope it works out for her. But she was feeling terrible, itchy eyes and general allergy type symptoms. It was nice to go to bed together around 11:30.
