Multi Game Q*Bert 8 in 1 is official – One new game added to multi board!

Mike and Dave are currently working their butts off to hold to their deadline for shipping this multi board on Nov. 24! I am blown away by this resolve, especially in a time where project time creep seems to be the status quo.

The most important item of note – It is now official, there is an 8th game on the multi Q*Bert board taking advantage of some of that extra memory that was needed for Q-bert 7-Eleven. I know all of you will know what game this is by the screenshot, but follow the jump to learn a little more.

Photos of Arcade and Pinball Games at St. Louis Super Auctions Nov. 2008

It’s super late, and I need to be in bed. I got the 80 some photos from Pat and Chris in St. Louis for the Super Auction tomorrow. Looks to be a doozie, there are a ton of classic games the night prior, which means this could fill out even further tomorrow. There are also a ton of newer, modern pins that seem to be fairly popular. Guys on Klov are speculating that some of these items would have been at the Super Auction in Detroit had it not been canceled. (more…)

Humpty Dumpty..Ms. Pac-man back together again

Finally, after a couple of weeks after moving her into the basement on Nov. 8th, I took a break today from design and online work to put my Ms. Pac-man back together. A thank you goes out to Chris Moore for the new t-molding. (more…)

New Multi Q*Bert Shirts are @!#?-ing Awesome!

Back in July Mike Doyle and I had been writing emails back and forth and he had told mentioned some sparse details about the 7-11 Q*Bert discovery. We did some email back and forth but Mike is a busy guy and I never got the details of his story. But, he did remembered me as he and Dave teamed up again to release another round of the 6 in 1 Q*Bert kits (Now 7 in 1 with the 7-Eleven version). They’ve got a new T-Shirt with the fun little multi game and I think it is a cooler revision to the original Q*Bert Multikit t-shirt.

Warlords Cocktail Glass Reproductions at Phoenix Arcade comming soon?

Darin Jacobs is currently polling interest from arcade collectors to see what interest there would be in doing some Warlords cocktail glass artwork reproductions. According to published documents online, 1253 Warlords cocktails were produced. However, they are fairly hard to come by and there is a good chance the average reader has never even heard of Warlords.

I admit, I’m a big gushy convert but this is just an amazingly fun game. Never played it? I’ve included a screen shot and an animation showing you what it’s like. Try it out, you might want to find a Warlords and then you might want to get on the reproduction list 😉 (more…)

Two Cosmic Chasm Games and a Cube Quest – A collector’s story

Joe Magiera is probably the most resourceful arcade collector you’ll meet. He’s also one of the most private collectors you’ll meet and rightfully so. Project manager by day, he is comfortable with two skills that lend themselves well to hunting down treasures, email and influence. He works hard to find the rare treasures he acquires, and keeps everything very close to the chest. Until today.

Joe recently wrote a very long story with a ton of detail on a trip he took out to South Dakota from Chicago. What for? Oh, only a couple of Cosmic Chasms and a Cube Quest….with a seat.

Old Joystik ‘Innerview’ – Eugene Jarvis – Creator of Robotron, Defender and Stargate

Originally published in Joystik September, 1982, here is an interview – or ‘innerview’ with one of the famous arcade game creators of that era Eugene Jarvis. These magazines are available online at a couple of different website, but they are not searchable text. If you’ve never read this article, hopefully you will find it interesting to hear Eugene talk about his philosophies on games as well as some insights into his creator owned game studio Viz-Kids.
