Universal Jungle Flyer

Two weeks ago I came across a flyer on eBay from a seller in Portugal for a Universal game called Jungle. Here is an image of that flyer.

Universal’s Jungle Arcade / Pinball? game

It’s a bit surprising to still be uncovering unknown games from manufacturers nearly 40 years later. I’ve never heard of a game by Universal called Jungle, and checking in with other Universal fanatics on Facebook – none of them had either until several copies of this flyer appeared from an eBay seller in Portugal.

Here is an image of the flyer. It sounds like Dan at the amazing Flyer Fever purchased this flyer as well, so a scan should be available there shortly as well.

Universal Co. Jungle - Arcade Game Flyer

If you can’t see the text at the bottom, it reads:

Use your paddle to return the ball. Like in a pinball game, various targets flash on the screen. Every time you hit a target, your points pile up.

If you wipe out all four of the monkeys as they run about trying to escape, you get a bonus try. Then JUNGLEMAN jumps down. Trap him with your paddle, make him jump up and catch the hanging ivy, and you are awarded bonus points.

Available with various options, including settings for selecting the number of balls and for free games.

The sideart shown on the cabinet is a bit more simple in terms of composition in comparison to other early 80’s Universal cabinets, but is similar to artwork on other late 70’s cabinets like Limbo or Cosmic Monsters where there was a single visual subject created with some simple, single tone line art. In this case the illustration is of (I assume) Jungleman riding an Elephant with two vultures circling overhead. The control panel has two players start buttons, an additional button and a spinner.

If you know anything additional about this game, or have photos of the cabinet out in the wild – please! contact me.
