Tomahawk 777 pops up in Fort Washington, MD
Another week, another uncommon item pops up on Facebook – this time a Deco Tomahawk 777 on a yard sale page for the greater Columbia Maryland area.
The oddball that is Data East’s Tomahawk 777
There were a ton of ‘Space Invaders’ type shooters in the late 70’s / early 80’s looking to capitalize on the success of the original. Data East’s Tomahawk 777 is a combination gameplay of Depth Charge + Space Invaders, where a submarine shoots an attacking alien fleet that includes some TIE fighter looking ships – THE kitchen sink when looking to duplicate something popular.
Despite the wonky gameplay – the cabinets coming out of Japan put American cabs to shame. Ken Holcomb was the collector lucky enough to spot this listing a short ~1 hour drive from his place in Pasadena, MD and made arrangements to pick it up. The bottom and kickplate have some bumps and bruises, but the panel in particular is in amazing shape and this Tomahawk 777 is in excellent condition given its age.
Check it.
Congrats Ken on picking up this beauty, I’m jealous.
